Blessed to be a Blessing

Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV)
1 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The Great Commission in Matthew18:18-20 and what is called “The call of Abraham reveal the missionary mind of God.
1. The God of the Bible is a sending God.
Abraham was called to leave Ur and go to a place God would show him.
God wanted to bless all the families of the earth through Abraham. This would not happen for as long as Abraham stayed where he was. As the Father, has sent Me, I also send you (John 20:21).
2. God has a heart for the nations: even though Abraham had to leave everything he had, God promised: I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing (v.2). Abraham had to share his blessings with others.
3. The essence of the Gospel is God sending His people to share the Gospel.
We are most blessed by God. We need to share with others near and far our most precious gift: the Gospel.
